100 BLOCK OF N. BURGESS AVE

Homicide: On September 29, 2026, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Columbus police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of North Burgess Avenue. Officers located Ryan Ward, 27, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Columbus Fire Medic 817 transported Ward to Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased at 8:16 p.m. Investigators identified David Estrada, 22, as the suspect in the shooting. Estrada had left the scene in a silver Honda, which patrol officers subsequently located. A pursuit followed, and the vehicle crashed on U.S. Route 33 eastbound near Sugar Grove. Estrada was taken into custody a short distance from the crash site with assistance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office. Estrada has been charged with murder in connection with Ward’s death and is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail.
